ABOUT US

Our Origin Story

Our Mission

Making kids smile . . .if only for 28 pages.

Critical Care Comics was founded to provide an escape for kids going through a tough time. We achieve this every week by bringing comic books and toys to kids in hospitals.

Over the last decade our ability to support children and their families in the community has grown. The resources we’re able to provide now ranges from superhero visits to a nationwide scholarship for childhood cancer survivors.

Our Origin Story

Critical Care Comics is a Las Vegas charity, brought to life in 2012 when a childhood cancer survivor decided to help kids who shared his experience. As a child, comic books helped distract him during chemo treatments and painful procedures. Those stories provided him comfort that even superheroes had to overcome challenges. As an adult, he decided it was time to bring those characters back for another mission – make kids smile… if only for 28 pages. It was then that a handful of comic book fans with big hearts donned their superhero costumes and began delivering comics to children’s hospitals. Today, CCC is lead entirely by volunteers that include our Board of Directors, a strong leadership team, and a diverse roster of volunteer ‘heroes’ and ‘agents’.

Our Heroes Today

As of 2024 our heroes and agents have worked their capes off raising over $1,000,000 for scholarships for cancer survivors, toys and comics for kids, helping low income families, and more!

With over 10 years of hard work, Critical Care Comics has become a staple of Las Vegas with dozens of partners and local supporters. Our roster of heroes has grown to over 70 active volunteers who share a deep commitment to the mission in everything they do. Each week heroes and agents visit partner hospitals delivering toys and comics to kids of all ages, and every month there are special events from walks and marathons to everyone’s favorite, Free Comic Book Day!

As Critical Care Comics continues to grow in our reach and impact, we’re committed to the original mission that started it all. While we strive to change the world for the better, we’ll never lose sight of our goal to make kids smile . . .if only for 28 pages.
