‘Agents’ support the charity in a variety of ways from organizing which comics and toys are brought to kids we visit to taking photos during events.
‘Agents’ have opportunities to work in the spotlight, or support the charity behind the scenes. Let’s find out how your unique skills and talents could become a great asset to the team!
'Heroes' are agents that visits hospitals and events dressed in a costume. We have spent a great deal of time developing relationships with the medical partners that allow us the opportunity to visit with their patients. In order to protect the work we do there is a high standard for costume approval with an additional review process.
Many volunteers first meet our heroes and agents at one of the events we do around Las Vegas. CCC will commonly partner with comic book shops, local festivals, other charities and their events, comic cons and many others.
These events are great for building awareness for what we do, raising funds to support our cause and talking with potential volunteers (maybe you!?).
Our volunteers enjoy these events as a time to pose for photos and talk to people about what we do, but we’re selective with where we go to avoid being confused with a ‘costume characters for hire’ business. First and foremost we’re a volunteer-run charity.
Visiting kids in hospitals is what our heroes are known for. Other events are great, but walking through hospitals and medical facilities dressed in character to interact with kids and make their day better is central to our mission.
Being stuck in a hospital room for days, weeks, months or even longer is a tough experience some of our own volunteers know all too well. When our heroes and agents walk into a hospital visit they are armed with toys and comics - but also superhero levels of compassion.
It’s a special privilege for CCC to visit our partner’s patients, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes to act strong and brighten as many people’s days as possible.
Critical Care Comics was founded in 2012 with a vision from a childhood cancer survivor who wanted to make a difference. In the years since CCC was founded our teams and Board of Directors have worked heroically to create an incredible culture that fosters respect, trust and friendship among our volunteers.
Creating a strong culture with these qualities is an exceptional challenge which is why our recruitment team cares so much about maintaining a thorough application process for new volunteers.
When you become a volunteer for Critical Care Comics you’re signing up to become a part of something bigger than yourself and all of us as individuals - it’s our power as a team that allows us to achieve our mission!
Making kids smile . . .if only for 28 pages. This is the baseline impact of Critical Care Comics mission - at a minimumour goal is to make kids smile.
The real mission of CCC is to make the biggest impact we can in the fight against childhood cancer, illnesses and disabilities. We work everyday at achieving this goal through our partnerships and programs in Las Vegas, and as far beyond as we can reach.
Our success is felt when the work we do results in donations to cancer research, funding scholarships for childhood cancer survivors, providing assistance to struggling families, and delivering toys and comics to kids everywhere we can.
